Kim Shi-dae, the founder of Starship, used to be a road manager for a band at Big Hit Entertainment. Then, in December 2013, LOEN Entertainment swooped in and bought 70% of their shares. Bam! Just like that, they were part of the family.
Starship Entertainment: Founded in 2008, Starship Entertainment is a South Korean entertainment company that manages some of the most popular K-pop artists in the world, including BTS and MONSTA X.
Bighit Entertainment: Established in 2005, Bighit Entertainment is another South Korean entertainment company that manages some of the biggest K-pop acts such as TXT and GFRIEND.
Joint Venture: In 2019, Starship and Bighit announced a joint venture to create a new label called “StarshipBighit” which will manage both companies’ artists under one roof.
Artist Collaborations: The joint venture has already seen collaborations between artists from both labels such as TXT featuring on MONSTA X’s song “Gravity” and GFRIEND featuring on BTS’s song “Boy With Luv”.
